Hi everyone,
Verse two of my previous song (er, posting).
For those who may be attending the ACB National Convention in Las Vegas,
Nevada:
First, If you're bringing a Scanner, Radio Reference www.radioreference.com
has the frequency and talkgroup info you'll need to scan while there. In the
Database page, search for "Las Vegas, NV" and choose the link for Las Vegas
in Clark County. Las Vegas PD has been using the Harris Radio "OPenSky"
system (Called "DesertSky in Las Vegas) which cannot be monitored with
currently available scanner receivers. They are in the process of switching
over to a Motorola trunked system using P25 Type II digital voice. My
PSR-500 is not able to decode this digital protocol, though I am told that
the new Uniden scanners are able to do so. Las Vegas Fire Department along
with Clark County Fire/rescue and EMS and other Clark County Services are
carried on the Clark County - Southern Nevada Area Communications Council
(SNACC) system. This is a Motorola, type II, Smartzone system, currently
carrying both analog and Apco P25 mode traffic. The Riviera Hotel And Casino
uses an LTR trunked radio system, and their info is also available on the
Clark County page you'll use to find Las Vegas info.
Second, As I offered those who I might have run into at the NFB convention,
If you own a PSR500 or PSR600 scanner, I'll be glad to share my Las
Vegas.bin file with you, so you can quickly get your scanner up and running.
Finally, If there's enough interest, I'll have my laptop running the PSR500
app from PSREdit along with my PSR500 scanner and 40-cell Braille display at
the Freedom Scientific Training booth. If you want to drop by and see the
kind of information you can glean from the Braille display as the scanner
scans, I'll set it up. If there's not enough expressed interest the first
day (or sent to my email address), I'll keep the scanner handy and will be
glad to set things up if we're not too slammed.
