Bob, I remember enjoying your band at the Marin Art and Garden
Center. I got in one of the jam sessions between your sets. I
met Zeke that day and found out that he had a Cortois cornet he
would sell me. He told me there's no way you can find out if you
like the horn until you play it on a few gigs. He sent me the
horn to try out which I did for several weeks. I didn't feel
comfortable with it for some reason so sent it back. But what a
gentleman he was both to meet and talk with, and to send me that
horn. Ironically, I did end up buying the same brand cornet
about 3 years ago. Don't know if it's the same bore as the one
from
zeke, but it is a nice horn. Will never forget talking with Zeke
and the brief friendship we had. I probably would not have been
so talkative with him if I had known what a famous guy he was.

In the late '50s, Bob used to hear Morse Code from Russian =
commercial =3D
=3D3D
=3D3D3D
=3D3D3D3D =3D3D3D3D3D
=3D3D3D3D3D3D stations on the 80-meter band. He tried many
times to =
=3D3D
contact =3D3D3D
the

=3D3D20
One night in frustration, Bob called the Russian and instead of
=

that =3D

=3D3D
=3D3D3D
=3D3D3D3D =3D3D3D3D3D
=3D3D3D3D3D3D Code in Russian. When he stopped for Bob's reply,
Bob =

told =3D3D
him =3D3D3D
that he
=3D3D3D3D =3D3D3D3D3D3D =3D3D3D3D3D was really an American ham.
The =
Russian =3D
didn't =3D3D
wait =3D3D3D
for any

broke =
