Mike:

If I do CW in October, I'll probably run split, similar to what you did,
since that seems to be preferred up here.

Regarding your next shifts, what band or bands do you think you are going to
operate on?

Subject: Observations about Working Split

Split mostly makes it easier for the people who are trying to hear the
station who is causing the pile up.

It also makes it easier for the operator to tune the receiver around a
little more than working simplex. Last night, I ranged up and down over a
full KHZ or so with the RIT control. That let me stay in the area where I
could separate more signals most of the time.

In my 2 hour run last night, I made 178 contacts.

On Tuesday night, the band sagged a bit about 30 minutes before my shift
ended, but came back strong about 10 minutes from the end.

Last night, it was wall to wall signals the entire time.

My next times are Saturday morning between 6 and 8, and Saturday night from
7 - 9 again.

The pile up should slow
down a little by the weekend.
