Richard, the 480 might be folding back due to excessive SWR. Personally I
would not operate a transmitter into an SWR of 2 to 1, and I lose sleep
worrying about an SWR of 1.5 to 1. I am presently adjusting my SteppIr DB36
with my new SDA100 and SteppIr Reader, and on 15 I haven't gotten it below
1.3 to 1, and I won't even transmit into that with my amps. So, I would try
using an antenna tuner and see what happens to the 480's output power. My
guess is that it will go back to normal, or nearly so.

Good luck.

Subject: ts480 stumped

Hi;
Dusted off the ts480 because things have been busy for the past month
and I'm stumped. My swr is around 2/1 but the forward power is only 20
wats. I have the level at 100% and don't know of any reason that there
would be a problem with the final. The transmit and receive are using
the same vfo. Can't think of what else to check. If its an antenna
issue its going to wait to decent weather but I'm wondering if there is
something I've overlooked.
Thanks
Richard
