Whether the leads on the end of your coax is a little one way or the other
isn't that critical. I make mine long enough so I have plenty to work with,
e.g. 2 or 3 inches each so I have some length to work with in case one sweet
spot is an inch or so higher or lower than the other. Again, the center lead
connects to the long section of the tubing and the shield or braid connects
to the stub.
