Hi all:
Nobody can have as hard luck in this ham hobby as I got. <frown>
1ST off today, I found out that my amp is now ready to be put back in service is was the band switch was out of alinement a little.
Last night however, after working a little DX, I smelled an electrical sort of smell coming from my 102.
Let the rig cool off for 20 minutes with the fan running, then turned everything off for 20 minutes or so.
Went back into the shack to attempt a HF hangout and boom. No power out what so ever.
Called the Gentleman who restores the 102s and went through his step by steps to trace things down and the only things we could come up with is 1, blown 12by7 driver, 2 all the tubes could be blown or 3, worst case, the rig will have to be shipped to Florida for work.
I thought about cashing it in and springing for a new rig but I'd be looking at close to 2K where if I have to buy a set of tubes every 3 years at a cost of 160CAN, think I'm going to order 2 sets and then I'll have them now that the amp doesn't half to go anywhere here's hoping. I guess I'm going to have to live with the tuner as well until perhaps the fall.
All I can say is.................
