Mike, I just called HRO here in Phoenix, and the price on the Palstar AT2K
is $544.95, and there are 2 currently in stock.

Subject: Palstar AT-2K or Ameritron ATR-30
Hi all:
Anyone know off hand if there's a ham store in the states selling either of
these antenna tuners at a sale price?
These tuners are really expensive up here in Canada. The Palstar sell for
720 and the Ameritron sells for 660.
Factor in taxes and shipping, I'm looking at 860 for the Palstar and 800 for
the Ameritron. I don't think these antennas are worth that much, considering
if I lived and worked in the states, I'd probably get these tuners for 600
bucks. I'm really nervous about going back to a new MFJ-986 which I can get
for around 450 where I'm operating with a 43 foot ground mounted vertical,
which may or may not put high voltages on the feed line, depending on who
you talk to and who you believe. LOL
All the makers of these antennas that I've talked to claim that its nonsense
while guys like Phil Salus claim that there are. In the mean time, ON4DX's
low band DXing book, section on verticals, doesn't mention anything about
high currents and voltages at the base of a vertical, just mentions why you
need a good radial field. LOL
Anyway I'd like to get one of these tuners at around a 600CAN price and not
have any doubts about using my vertical on 75/80M.

Maybe when I'm ready, I could send the money to someone on the list, they
could buy it for me and send the tuner to me as a gift. LOL
