Somebody on here asked what I was trying to do  with the antenna and it am
trying to connect with our local repeater as the bigger repeater was
removed.

 

He asked how far I was from the repeater and here is the answer I got:

the repeater antenna is about 220ft

Only down side is that we are on the blocked side of the antenna- meaning we
are on the side where the signal must transmit thru the tower

With handhelds it is a bit of a challenge - but your new radio should not
have any problems making contact
