That was my point.  I don't know why the tr relay is dropping, but I doubt 
if it is the spike problem.  Yes, the spike problem is there, some icom 
radios have even more of a problem.  I have never had any problems with my 
590.  I'm on a couple 590 lists, and tis thing has been discussed over and 
over.  Sometimes it does cause amps to trip, but I think often it is like 
chicken little and the sky is falling.
