Thanks Steve. I appreciate your response.

In thinking about it further, I may just opt for the more expensive
option and get the remote internet head from remoterig.com.

This would mean only the radio need be kept on my friends property.

I won't have to bother him with fixing 2 devices the radio and the
computer when something goes wrong and it will save space in his
hamshack.

Keep us posted if you decide to explore further  in using the kenwood
software.
