No, we just had to do a completely new g-mail profile on the g-mail web
site, and a fresh install of Outlook.

After that, we had to configure the new Outlook account to sync properly
with g-mail.

Ended up taking about 20 hours of work, because we tried to back up my old
outlook files as well.  That was the part that was only partially
successful.

seems like way way too much work for what I was trying to accomplish, but,
as I said, I needed to upgrade to Windows 7 to remain compatible with  the
University where I teach.

To make a long story very very short, Outlook 2010 was not successfully
syncing with g-mail via the IMAP interface.

It just kept trying and trying to sync, which was bogging my system way
down.

I worked with an I T guy at a local computer shop here in town, and my whole
g-mail account and profile had to be re-done.

I am sure I lost some saved e-mails in the entire process, but at least I'm
now up and running with Outlook 2010 and g-mail.
