If you can't turn off the agc, just turn down the RF gain.

Sorry, I just saw this today.  Mostly older rigs might not have an AGC off
option.  My TS440 for one.  You can switch between slow and fast but you
can't turn it off on that rig.  The K3, of course, is completely different.
Not only can you turn it off but configure several different aspects of AGC
performance.  i live in a rather noisy location but now have the receiver
behaving much more quietly since finding an article about it online and
following its reccomendations.  I imagine the 590 is similar.  73.  Lou
