Kind of off topic, but I thought someone here might have an 
answer for this question.  Do any of you know if someone has used 
an HF rig on a train? If so I would suppose it would have had to 
be an employee, or someone very well connected.  But, having said 
that, it seems very feasible to run a long wire on top of a train 
which could work quite well on long Amtrak trips.  Where there 
are hams, there's usually a way and a will to communicate.  73,
