The 590 is noted for being very sensative to input voltage. You really
need to measure it at the radio. It wants around 14 volts. If you get
much below, power starts dropping off. It is easy to adjust the voltage
on the astron supply, but if you're not comfortable working on such
things, you may not want to try. The main regulater board is usually
mounted with component side down, foil side up and is screwed to the large
electrolitic capacitors. If you feel under the board, you''ll find a pot,
about the size of a dime or a little largger. It is mounted on edge and
you can adjust it with a finger. Don't go very much undil you know which
way you need to go. Also, if you go to high, you'll trip the ovp circuit.
