Hey Linda, good luck with the 71A. I have owned the TMV71A for almost four
years and love it. You won't interfere with your crabby old neighbors and
you will have a blast with your new rig. Keep in mind that the rig is
unusable for a totally blind person without the VGS1 so I hope they are
installing the chip for you. I put it in my rig which was not nearly as
difficult as putting it in the TS480 but if you don't feel comfortable doing
stuff like that, I hope the vendor will, or is doing that for you. Best 73,
Jim WA6EKS

Hi all,
First, I want to thank this list for all of your imput.
I just spoke to scott at universal radio and bought a nice rig for $604 and
change.
I bought the Kenwood TMV71A with an antenna and the VGS1 and power supply
that was recommended.
I won't mind telling you I am sort of nervous-as my experience with the 2
meter even with mag mount was not a good one as like I said, I live in a
condo complex.
So hold my hand please as I wait for my mobile/base unit.
Smile.
Hugs and 73
