Sounds good Mike.   That's basically how I tune the AL-80B, although the 
3-500Z tube can take  a bit more both in drive and key down time.

I think in his other tuning method, he is using a pulser or other device 
  giving a very low duty cycle compared to  solid CW key down.

I guess there  are many methods and tricks, but as long as you keep the 
  smoke inside and keep the RF going out, all will be well.
