My license expiration date is July 15, 2014.  I'd like to take care of this
around April 15 if possible, so that I won't have to worry about it again
for the next ten years.

Then, if you haven't yet registered, you'll have to register so you can be
assigned an FRN number and password.  After you do that, you can then log
in, click the link for filing applications  and fill out the form according
to the various fields.  But when you choose a password, it has to be between
6 and 15 characters, a mix of letters and numbers, and if you use more than
one letter it has to be a mix of upper and lower case letters.  They will
also accept percent characters and other such characters within that
password.  You'll have to wait until 90 days before your license expires
before you can renew.  Good luck.

I'm going to show a bit of ignorance here, or maybe we'll just call it the
need to get up to the year 2014.  (smile)

My license comes due in July of 2014, and I'd like to renew it earlier than

When my renewal date came up in 2004, I called the ARRL, and they did it for
me as a blind ham.

I took that approach because, at the time, I was a lot less computer savy
than I am now, and wanted to get it done efficiently.

Now, I'd like to try the process independently.

How are you guys doing the on line renewal process?  What is the most
accessible web site for getting this accomplished?  Does anyone have any
tips for negotiating the recommended web site?

Again, I apologize if I'm asking something very basic here, but this is
something that we all only worry about every ten years.
