Yep, conditions were rough, especially with the QRM on both sides, and I am
not sure completely changing my frequency would have made any difference on
the band at that time of the day, with all of the nets and other gatherings
that occur in the late afternoon and evening.

And, to all list members:  I'm sorry if I pre-empted the round table. ... I
was afraid that would happen, but as we all know, if you have a good
operating frequency, especially with band conditions as they were, you hang
onto it if at all possible.

The people after me continued to operate on that frequency until 8 p.m.,
and, as I checked occasionally, they were making lots of contacts as well.
