Nope. No dice. Seriously, most modern character sets, including UTF-8, are 8-bit text. This list doesn’t grok anything but super plain vanilla 7-bit ASCII, i.e. no extended characters. You can set the Mac to plain text ’til the cows come home, but that’s not going to fix it.
