Hi Don,
Good luck with the remote stuff you have planned. Sorry to say that
the only times I use the ARCP-590 software is to backup or restore
settings, or do the odd reset.
I know that RIT and XIT are menu choices in the software, and that
tuning choices go as small as 1, 10, and 20 hz, but I'm not sure how
cumbersom it is to tune this way. I know a lot of the logging packages
offer mouse wheel tuning, and while it may be nice in the Kenwood
software, I'm not sure it (or arrow key tuning) exists.
All this is way out of my league, but there may be better commercial
software out there for doing remote operation. One thing about the
590 is that you can have 2 programs running at the same time, one on
the USB port and another on the RS 232 port without conflicting.
Doubt if this was much help. Maybe someone else on the list has a
better handle on it. Mike KD2CDU was on the 40 meter roundtable
yesterday and expressed an interest in sometime doing remote with his 590.
You probably saw the link I posted the other day for the kenwood
software for USB audio stuff from the pc. If you need it again, let
me know.
