In the general DX section of N1MM, which is what I would use for QSOs like
that, you hit spacebar once to get to the Name field.

Lloyd:

First, thanks for the birthday wishes, and happy birthday to you as well!

I may check into the net a little later, but 20 meters just isn't that great
for me up here in the north country at this time of year.

Also, I may check 160 meters again at the tail end of the contest, just to
see if I can get a few more contacts if the band has re-opened at all.

So far, I have 280 in the log, which isn't too bad, considering I ran the
contest with 100 watts, using my Cobra antenna. Something has changed with
my 160 meter half sloper which is tuned for the CW part of the band, but
I'll have to wait for better weather until I can check that out.

Regarding my A C Log question, I'm sorry I wasn't clear in my last post.
Our ADIF files are not directly sent to the League, but, instead, are sent
to our designated event coordinator for the Michigan section. He then
compiles all of our logs, and sends them onto HQ.

I'll definitely try your approach of just hitting enter after the call.

If that works with AC Log, it would make things simpler. However, a number
of operators are also asking for the person's name, which would be nice to
enter as well.

Happy birthday!
It may be that you can do as I would in N1MM. It is possible to simply type
the call and press Enter. When I was doing the N3A special event station a
year ago, I forwarded my ADIF file to the guy who organized the activity,
and he consolidated the ADIF's from the various contributors. Are you sure
you're supposed to send your file directly to ARRL? I hope to do a little
W1AW/3 when Maryland's turn comes up in late June or August.

Subject: A C Log Question

Hi, everyone.

As many of you know, I have signed up to represent Michigan in the W1AW/8
ARRL Centennial QSO Party on Saturdaay: February 22. I will be running
40-meter SSB from 4 to 6 p.m. Eastern time on that day.

I now need to begin seriously working on logging for the event, and think it
makes the most sense to go with the N3FJP AC log software, since I already
have that program. The software also readily converts your log file into
ADIF format, which the league requires.

My first step will be to download and install the latest version of A C Log,
which I hope to do yet today.

I have been spending a lot of time e-mailing back and forth with various
other Michigan participants, and they all recommend making the logging
process as simple as possible so that you have the fewest amount of data
entry fields to tab through in the log. This really makes sense, since I
will need to use Jaws or the N3FJP wave files to tell me where I am.

For their records, the League will require call, date, time, band, and mode
for each contact. All of these data fields exist in A C Log, and are
accessed via the tab key.

But, I really will only need to enter the calls of the stations I work as
new information for each contact, once my frequency set-up for split
operation is established.

Is there a way to hide data fields, so I don't have to tab through all of
the fields in the software unnecessarily?

I'm sure the answer is buried somewhere in the program documentation, but
perhaps someone here knows the answer already.
