Ah, now I understand why it didn't make sense.  I've played around with the 
control program enough to know it works, but I've never tried to tune the 
radio that way when in split mode.  I'm not sorry I upgraded to the new 
firmware; I'm just glad I didn't have to pay for it.

For anyone considering performing the upgrade, it's a pretty straightforward 
process, especially if you use the control program to restore your menu 
settings and memories.  You will find, however, that not everything is 
saved.  For example, the RX and TX equalization settings have to be redone 
manually, and so do things like mic gain and processor settings.  Just 
remember to check things before you start transmitting.
