Thank you all for your advice and comments.
I got a refurbished Maytag washer and dryer 7 years old, delivered installed
and the old ones taken away for $570.
The dryer worked but it was 15 years old, and adding it only added $40 to
the price.  That is including having the other one break and a new non
matching dryer delivered and installed soon.
I even got a $20 senior discount.  Who knew!!!
Its the old style equipment, but everything is accessible.
