THis would be a bit expensive, but hay, this is ham radio...  Is there 
an office on the side of the building you could have access to?  You 
could put in a radio that would work cross band and use a cheap ht in 
your office, crossband to the radio on the other side of the building to 
the repeater.  Just a thought.
