Man, ain't that the saddest thing you ever heard. You've only raised
$5,000. You need 2500 votes. You are already up to $2.00 per vote, and
that's not enough. That's probably already more, adjusted for inflation,
than the Tweed ring paid for votes. And that's just for a local office.
What does any of this have to do with democracy?
I salute you Larry for being willing to subject yourself to the ignominy of
such a system. But I'm glad that I still live in a little corner of the
19th Century. If I had to have raised $50.00 to run for Selectman I would
still have my Tuesday nights free.
