Since my house is only 2 stories tall, I don't think this answers it ;-).
Actually, I got a couple of other responses that indicate the use of the
fan to move cooler basement air through the house caused the large
accumulation in the cold air return. Thanks.

Can only talk ffrom personal experience this past Friday-
Turned out the water we found in the basement ductwork was from an
intermediate
floor
cooling tower 21 floors up- hope this helps
