the review from the active elements website, just so you guys are aware, is 
for the kenwood tm v71E which is the european version.  The major 
differences between the A US version and the E european version is the tx 
frequency coverage.  The E version has a far smaller 2M band and smaller 
70CM band...and also uses 12.5K steps on the 70CM band.  It may use narrow 
spacing on the 2m band as well not sure.
However, everything else is the same on both models as far as I know.

it really is a great radio and highly accessible as far as these things go.
