Hi Kelvin and all

I have the great privilege of knowing G5OD. Allan is now well into his 90's
and I think that his call was issued in 1937 but will check.

Their was, of course, G5RV who I also had the honour of knowing.

Hi Buddy,

The G5 callsigns are indeed old, and the 2 letter prefix makes it quite
ancient! If the family of the original holder of the callsign gives
permission, it can be transferred to a younger person and as Chris is a CW
nut I guess the short callsign was very attractive. Callsigns in the uk are
never normally re-issued.

Although Chris lives at the other end of England, we've met on several
occasions, and I can confirm the current G5VZ is not old at all!

Best wishes, Kelvin Marsh - M0AID

I can't remember if I expressed interest in this or not, but if I =
haven't, make that count nine. While it' true you'll have to pry my =
P2000CW from my cold, dead fingers, I was damned lucky to get it in the =
first place and at a steal of a price, I wouldn't say no to other =
station accessories.=20

I've seen Chris on the KX3 Email reflector. =85 How'd he rate a 1X2 G =
call, anyway? Is he ancient, or do they have some sort of new vanity =
call program or something? Just curious, mind you. LOL
