Yes, the Hessian Hut (1909 ?) at the Dyckman House has/had an aluminum 
subsurface beneath the decorative cedar logs. It was for us a surprise 
to find it there.

> Ken may recall the year on the Hessian Hut restoration at the Dyckman House, but we were surprised to find that the hut, which was a replica, had thick aluminum plates under the ceder log "roof."  The restoration of a replica was an exciting adventure into preserving authentically the inauthentic.
