I'm starting to explore and learn about ayurvedic nutrition and medicine, although I'll never "prescribe" the medicine concoctions. My focus is on nutrition...eat what's best for YOU...the individual...not what some government department dictates or a huge industry that is killing us with chemicals and toxins.

Well, in looking up stuff for a friend with ulcerative colitis, I came upon a link that describes a concoction, that claims......

"Ulcerin Compounds stop the bleeding, repair the damage and block the leakage of intestine wall. Reduce inflammation of mucosa of intestines. Protect and rebuilds the intestinal inner lining. Enhances proper immune function through improved digestion"

Here is the main link...... http://ayurveda-foryou.com/treat/ulcerative_colitis1.html There are others.

I'm starting to order and read books on this and intend to take classes, but what struck me is that the ulcerin compound described on this site.... that I would, if I was so inclined, get from a medical doctor who also practices aryuveda....also seem to cure leaky gut and fix what we get with celiac. Maybe this is a cure for celiac!!!! Maybe this is what is currently being tested by one of the drug companies?????? I don't know.

Is there anyone out there on our listserv that is into alternative, holistic, natural (herbal), ayurvedic nutrition and/or medicine?

I'm not ready to take this stuff, but India and other eastern cultures have cures for stuff we do not get here. Ayurveda isn't a flakey trend. It's real and it's old.

Wouldn't it be awful, if we're simply ignoring a cure?

An Indian friend of mine, in my yoga teacher training program said that in India, there is a completely successful approach to treating MS....much more effective than in western cultures.

I'm beginning to sit up and listen, but would love hearing from anyone out there who is on the same page, or is at least, as curious as I am.

Don't beat me up. I don't go off on binges trying anything that is advertised as a quick fix. Ayurveda is NOT a fly-by-night snake oil approach. And I'm not racing off to eat this stuff. But it's worth following curiosity.
