It'd probbly take me more time to type this sentence than it would to
decide I would indeed take my sight bakc. While I don't pine away
daily, I've never really gotten "use" to it. I have my own
perspectives on why it is that folks have acception or are content
about blindness, or as much as feeling God wants them blind,
especially when it comes to the Word and faith and such but it is
better left for now. I will say I haven't given up on God's
intervention regarding it, and yet it in itself will never become my
god. First comes the creator and then his good and perfect gifts.
Having had cataract surgery recently for general eye health reasons
as it can increase the eye pressure leaving them on, I did talk with
my doctor who is a retinal specialist. The implant type electronic
artificial photo sensors while are up to 1500 or so now, don't
compare to the count of over a milllionin the eye. And yet it does
offer some hope for those who wish to sacrifice the natural retina
for the experiment or limited results. I personally am encouraged by
the ability for them to grow a multi-layered retina from stem cells
which to my knowledge are not embrionic harvests. I won't say I'm
content beig blind, I do find it has allowed some things which
perhaps I'd not have normally done or saw in other ways than vision,
but it is still a very major pain in the backside to me compared to
how efficient life was prior and I would very much like to get that
back some day. Not to mention to see the face of my kids and wife
again, and yes those purpolish lavender fading to pink and orange
sunsets would hold my imagination for a long time pre-blindness.
