After looking at the weekly electronic update email from Handiham, I again
tried to obtain the Extra class series of lectures that won't play or
download. It would now appear that you must register with Handiham for the
course you want to take be it Tech, General, Extra, Operating skills Etc. I
have mixed feelings about this because it is yet another method of someone
keeping tabs on us and possibly not allowing us to proceed at our own pace.

In 1988, I received a letter from Maurine Pranghoffer then of Handiham
informing me that because I had made no progress in my studies they were
dropping me from the Handiham roles, and that if I at some time in the
future showed a more serious attitude they would consider reinstating me. I
felt then and still feel now that this is the height of arrogance, but the
then director took her side. The thing was that I had received my first
amateur license 4 years earlier as a result of studying with Hadley School
for the Blind and sent them a copy of same at which time Sister Albertha
promptly reinstated me and apologized which I was grateful for. But this
new thing may be just another way of keeping tabs on us, and especially the
math involved in the Extra is math I haven't seen since high school and have
forgotten most of as I was never that good at that kind of math. Anyway,
those are just my thoughts. 73.
