2 meter mobile antennas are pretty small, why not put it across from the 
broadcast radio antenna? That's how mine is and it doesn't stick up hardly 
any more than the broadcast antenna, not to mention it has a tilt over 
bottom to it ss if it does find a way to hit a garage door or something, it 
will lay over then spring right back up. It's on the trunk of the car so not 
that high but it's not much bigger if at all than the broadcast antenna and 
I have a mag mount sitting around here that's real small and was on the roof 
of the minivan we used to have and we parked it in my mother's garage a few 
times to do work to it out of the cold and it cleared by a couple inches and 
was fine so you shouldn't have any problem coming up with something. HF 
might be a problem, but vhf shouldn't be any problem. It's done every day.
