Tom,
Turn off the vox on the 590 and you should just hear the sidetone
without transmitting, or tune to a non ham portion of the band where
the radio won't tx. . As for jaws maybe toggeling insert-2 to
"none" will do what you want. If the cw keyboard is a new window,
maybe you can just silence that window and leave the logging part
speaking the way you want.
