There is nothing wrong with used, a ts-440, 450, 570, 480, all Kenwoods can 
be found for a lot less on the used market and even the TS-850's aren't bad. 
My backup radio is a TS-450, it's early to mid 90's vintage, you can get the 
voice board for it from peix company in NH and it does what I want. My 
primary radio, the TS-2000 is in the shop, actually on it's way home from 
the shop but not here yet so I've been on the TS-450 for about a month. Feel 
free to look used, a lot of people buy used equipment, probably most these 
days due to finances, I know I'll never see a new radio again, and there's 
nothing wrong with that.
