I actually thought controled carier modulation was kind of neat, kept 
things cooler.  The scout I had, as I recall used Heiser screen 
modulation.  I had and just bought another one an Elmac af 67 which is 
only 60 watts input or so, but runs plate modulation and a neat little 
a.m. rig.
