I will send him an email and see what I can find out.
I have been away from this stuff for a while but I assume I would need a
good set of paddles to go with this keyer is that right?
If so, which paddles do you recommend?

Phil makes a CW keyer that plugs into the straight key jack of an HF rig.
The other end of the keyer has a serial port connection, but I have used it
successfully with a serial to USB converter for years.
The keyer costs approx $30 if I remember correctly.
Perhaps Jim now makes one with a direct USB connection which, of course,
would then make the serial to USB converter unnecessary.
