Interesting.  Many folks on the Elecraft list complained bitterly about them 
using a serial port on the K3 rather than  a USB  port but it works 
beautifully.  I've never had a problem with it and in addition, when you run 
an update, all your settings are maintained.  You simply cycle the power off 
and on and you're good to go.  Please note, I'm not gloating here, just 
providing info in case anyone is considering the K3.  73,  Lou WA3MIX
