well, what you need to do is insure that you are in control of the
emissions, that you can assure that you are there when the
transmissions are taking place, you are responsible for what goes on
the air, etc. If, for example, someone illegal operation starts like,
let's say, profanity, you can stop it, or if your station exhibits
some out of band operation which the operator is responsibility for,
like out-of-band operation, like if you as a technician class go to
the general class band and operate, that's illegal though the non
licensed operator may not know that.
someone else driving your car is a good simile, except there, it's
your insurance and the person driving should be licensed, unlike a
third-party talking over the air.
She shouldn't call CQ, for example, since it isn't you, the operator
wanting communications, it is someone unlicensed calling for any
station, and spirit of helping the person obtain an amateur license
should have some weight, or cause some interest rather than just
operating a husband's station whenever he is on the air. I'd say use
some common sense, that is always a good rule of thumb since the
rules aren't explicit about third party operation just enough to say
that you as the station operator should be in control of the
emissions at all times.
