In winamp, assuming you have the view set to classic, press alt-f to get to 
two vertical menus, they have pulldown options, so you can get more options. 
You will learn lots there.
The winamp controls are like an old cassette recorder.
z go back a track,
x play,
c pause, space bar will work as well.
v is stop,
b is next track.
right and left arrows skim through a track, and up and down arrows change 
volume.
If you set the view to classic, all this should work.
