Ed, Yes I agree and it is built like a tank.  Also, if on the wrong antenna
or high SWR it starts beeping like crazy.  I have used them since they
first came on the market.  RF Applications was coming out with a newer one
but the guy doing the work passed away and they decided not to market it.
I called them and was told this.  This was some time ago though.  Lots of
interesting info on the blind-hams list right now.

Fred, I feel the same way with C W being the readout, It is much easier for
me to understand with all the external noises kicking around the shack.  73
