Subject: tmv71A, serial to USB?

anyone else use the Kenwood PG-5G serial cable with the RTS-03 to
make it work with USB based computers? My computer recognizes the
RTS-03 as com6, so I made sure all was at 9600 baud, (including the
tmv71A in the menus), but still I get a "time out" message.
