Junior,

I'm sorry to hear about your antenna.

My bet is that either a hungry squirrel developed a taste for the cord 
that held up the loop, or that said cord deteriorated in the sunlight, 
then gave up the ghost.

Either way, it's a nuisance.

My 40 meter inverted V took a tumble yesterday when the oak branch 
that held up the center parted company with its tree. I have upcoming 
tower work anyway, so there's one more project for a good sling shot 
operator that day.
