Jim:
Contact Phil Whitehouse (W1GEE).
His e-mail address is:

Phil makes a CW keyer that plugs into the straight key jack of an HF rig.
The other end of the keyer has a serial port connection, but I have used it
successfully with a serial to USB converter for years.
The keyer costs approx $30 if I remember correctly.
Perhaps Jim now makes one with a direct USB connection which, of course,
would then make the serial to USB converter unnecessary.
Let me know how it goes if you do contact him.
