Boy, you've got your heart set on those service menus. I hope the
problem turns out to be there, or you will be very disappointed.
You should have the kenwood software and back up the radio just in
case something happens that forces you to reset sometime. Installing
new firmware will also wipe out all your existing data, if you ever need
to do that.
A partial reset will retain memory and menu settings, and a few other
things. Full reset blows everything away and returns everything to
factory specs.
