The antenna is known as the W3EDP antenna. It is a favorite among QRP 
operators who like to combine ham radio and camping.

Ron's description of the antenna is very good.

A tuner that will support a ballun and a high impedance load is an
absolute requirement since the design is a variation of the end fed
zep antenna.

It is easy to keep this antenna in a very low profile if you have one 
or two trees in the right places.

Google the phrase "W3EDP antenna", and you will find more reading
material about it than most of us would ever want.
