The Jetstream I have is a switcher, although they may make a linear one, I'm not sure. In any case, the one i have is 28 amps peak, 25 amps continuous, is very small and lightweight, can't be more than 4 or 5 pounds, perhaps less. It has no meters, but it has binding posts on the front, a cigarette lighter plug on the front, and spring terminals for low current draw things on the back. You know, like the sort of terminal that holds speaker wire into your bookshelf stereo. Now that i'm in a very quiet room, i can hear the fan, but for that, it's a pretty quiet fan. I haven't noticed a lot of extra noise generated out of it either, and the price is right. They make a 45-amp peak version as well for slightly more.
