Hi Pat,

About the voltage rating on fuses,

As I understand it.  When a fuse blows (opens), a gap is left between the 
ends of the fuse.  So for example, a fuse rated at 250 volts would require a 
voltage in excess of 250 volts to jump the gap left by the blown fuse.

This is why you would not want to put an automotive fuse rated at 32 volts 
in a 120 volt circuit but you could put a fuse rated at 250 in a 12 volt 
circuit without a problem.
