Usually they recommend fast for CW and other digital modes, slow for SSB, I
find on some radios slow is too slow and others I like slow for everything.
Short answer, find the way you like it and go with that. My TS-2000 is
variable, I found a setting that works fine for me with all modes I use,
it's not fast, I've seen some slower. My backup radio the Kenwood TS-450, I
used to like it better fast, I haven't run it in a while other than field
day I think I can stand it on slow now but as I recall that is slower than
I'd like. Really, it depends on what you want but usually they say fast for
digital modes, slow for SSB.
