another option may be the MFJ magnetic loop antenna.
They make two versions of the newest one, one that covers 10M through 30M,
and the second that covers 15M through 40M.
Read reviews on Eham...apparently it's quite a good antenna and is very
small and easy to deploy.
A bit hard to tune perhaps unless you have a tw1, which I think you do.
A local ham just bought the 15M to 40M model...he hasn't gotten it outside
yet though.
Same situation though, in an apartment that won't allow any permanent or
roof top antennas.
His plan is to plant a pipe in the ground and mount the loop about 3FT off
the ground in a vertical configuration.
I think the loop is 36 inches or so and is circular.
A bit pricy at $500 or more, but again, apparently it's quite a good
performer compared with other mobile/portible verticals that cover the same
bands.
And no ground radials required unless you run it horrizontal.
